    Breaking Down PICOT

  1. P — Patient/Population: Who are you studying?
  2. I — Intervention: What treatment or approach are you investigating?
  3. C — Comparison: What is the alternative?
  4. O — Outcome: What result are you measuring?
  5. T — Time: Over what period?

    For a Hospital Setting:

    "In adult ICU patients (P), does early mobility protocols (I) compared to standard bed rest (C) reduce hospital length of stay (O) within 30 days of admission (T)?"

    For Community Health:

    "Among type 2 diabetes patients in rural communities (P), does telehealth-delivered nutrition counseling (I) compared to in-person counseling (C) improve HbA1c levels (O) over 6 months (T)?"
